We are having a blackout and I am sitting on the laptop using wireless Internet… I wish the aircon would run on batteries too.  ;)

Aurelius Tjin just told me through Skype that he has another Internet Marketers meet-up planned on February 8th.  I will go there for sure, the last one was awesome.  :)

What else is new?  Tomorrow I will fly with my wife and son to Hong Kong.  We will stay there until the 24th and we will meet there with fellow “Warrior” Alan Cheng.  Should be fun, my first time in Hong Kong (if I don’t count the 2 hours I was once on the airport waiting for a connecting flight).

ViralURL.com‘s brand new mailserver and custom $10k mailing software are now finally operational and we are gradually switching over to it… took long enough!  Now we have again room for more growth.

And I finished editing the first DVD of Colin Klinkert and my brand new TheViralBlueprint.com. We finished recording hours of video for it during our Gold Coast meet-up last December.

Speaking of… March 12th to 15th the next World Internet Summit will be in Surfer’s Paradise at the Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia).  I will be there and so will Aurelius Tjin.  Maybe we can meet there as well?

Oh, and before I forget… Frank Kern!  If you read this, I would love to meet-up with you at that event in Surfer’s Paradise!  Come on Frank, a business expense trip to Surfers Paradise in Australia!  What else could you ask for???  :)  Cold beer is on me!

The wedding of James & Mari Brown was awesome.  Also, had a great time planing future projects and hanging out with James B. Allen, Edmund Loh & Fidens Simanjuntak as well as James Brown himself.

The last day and a half I was hanging out with my wife and son here in Tokyo, so far all relaxed and fun.  But then the extreme stress stop as I was about to leave Tokyo and fly to the US. 

What happened was that I left my passport in the hotel safe… ooops! 

So I arrived at the airport after a 1 1/2 hour shuttle bus drive and notice that I don’t have my passport on me… and the plane was scheduled to leave in 2 1/2 hours.  Too little time to go back to the Shinagawa Prince Hotel.  So, what now? Go back and get a later flight? That would make me be possible late for the Big Seminar that I wanted to attend in Atlanta.   Hmmm.

Luckily the guy who helped unload my suitcases from the shuttle bus spoke a bit English and had the number of the hotel in his cell phone… he dialed it for me and gave me the phone.

I first talked to a receptionist… and her English was worse then mine (I know, hard to imagine)… then she connected me to the hotels security manager and he was able to get my passport from the hotel safe.  Now… the next shuttle was about to leave 20 minutes after I called and would arrive at the airport just minutes before the check in closes!

Would the security manager be able to get it to the shuttle on time?  Would the shuttle make it on time to the airport?  Would I be able to catch my flight?

Just kidding. 

It all worked out and I was able to check in just 5 minutes before they closed the check-in.  Wow… all back to normal and I was on schedule to arrive in Atlanta, GA / USA for the Big Seminar 12.

Gail mentioned something that makes a lot of sense… always have a URL shown in any video that you submit to YouTube.com as well as mention a URL starting with http:// in the video description.

So far not really new… but she mentioned that YouTube now allows you to edit and add subtitles (e.g. the URL) after uploading a video to it.  That’s cool as I had a while ago uploaded some without the URL, and this allows to add them later without having to re-upload a modified video version.

Also, to be able to upload more video, make sure you choose “Director” as your YouTube channel type.

Another nice tip I picked up from her is not only answer other peoples questions in Yahoo! Answers for quality backlinks (in your signature), but to build ebooks based on questions found there.

Shawn was an very entertaining speaker that had some great tips to share as well…

Here is what I picked up from him:

1. Don’t just try getting traffic… Get highly responsive and targeted traffic with commercial intend!

2. Write your newsletter for the 2-3% of the visitors that purchase (speak directly to them).

3. Let somebody read your sales letter out aloud to you (or at least read it yourself aloud) to be able to pick up better on problems in the sales letter ad copy.

4. A sales letter should feel personalized and like it’s spoken directly to the reader.

5. A cool way to not only create a product in 6 hours and have traffic generating materials at the same time:  Do a 6 expert interview series… each plugging the product of one person that you interview (your affiliate link)… that way, sharing revenue… each interviewed person inviting their list to register for the calls (building your list).  Then use the transcribed versions of the interviews as articles in article directories get backlinks and traffic.

6. When you invite specialists on a topic for an interview, write them… “I am quiet intrigued on your take on XYZ.  I would love to an interview with you.  I promise, it won’t be a lame question and answer interview. It will be a dynamic experience you and I will remember quiet some time.”

7. During the interview, use questions like… “How did that make you feel?  Earlier you said XYZ. What did you mean by that?  How did you do that?”

The next speakers were Dr. Mike & Brian.  They had a create tip on what keywords to target… those that target buyers close to the end of the buying cycle.

Also, their tip for the free SRDS directory at NextMark.com was interesting.

You might be wondering why I watched newbie stuff on day 1? Not quiet what I am looking for information wise?

Right,but guess what?  Sylvie & Michel Fortin where showing how they setup their web site for raising money for breast cancer research as part as the World Internet Challenge and during their presentation I picked up two great tips which I wrote down…

1. Michel is a top notch copy writer that wrote copy for John Reese, Frank Kern etc. and he explained while creating the page for the raising money for breast cancer research project, why he did certain things on the page.  One point that caught my interest was how describes in the call to action step-by-step to the prospect what he wants them to do next.  e.g. “What I would like you to do next is to click on the order button below to order XYZ, you will be send to PayPal where you login with your PayPal email address and password.  Once you finished your payment, you will be forwarded to our order thank you page where you can get immediate access to your XYZ product.”

2. He shared with the crowd that he tested placing a video on the order page that shows the prospect also step-by-step how they go through the order process and how that video helped to increase the page conversion by 400%.  Amazing stuff!

On a side note… the reason they picked the raising money for breast cancer research project for the World Internet Summit is that Sylvie was diagnosed 2 years ago with late stage breast cancer and was giving 1 year to live.

It’s now two years since that and she is fine.  In her own words, due to the improvements in breast cancer treatment due to breast cancer research.

I believe so too and went and donated right away myself.  During the donation process they asked if I wanted to donate the money in honor for anybody, which I did.  I donated in honor of my wife Luisa who was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer a little over 9 years ago.

The doctors didn’t give her an exact amount of time she would have left, but told her that others with similar severe breast cancers on average had another 5 years to live.

I am glad to say that all that is now over 9 years ago and my wife is fine.

Anyway… that was another reason why I happily donated.

On a lighter note… I also had my 15 minutes of fame today on stage when Brett MyFall interviewed my on how attending the World Internet Summit had truly helped me to get to the point where I was able to generate $457,000 in sales from a single product.

Man… was I nervous walking on stage, but I made it through and it seemed like teh crowed liked what i had to share. 

Later in the evening I went again out with Leon (see yesterdays blog entry) and his wife Cat to an Italien restaurant.

Ever since I started attending offline seminars, I noticed my online business being boosted further and further. How does that come?

Before I answer that… let me share my excitement with you! Just 3 1/2 days until I will take off for a 13 hours flight from Sydney, Australia to San Francisco, CA / USA!

From the 13th to 16th I will attend there the completely sold out World Internet Main Event. If you haven’t gotten your ticket for that event yet, the only chance to see it is during the live broadcast. But to be honest… that gives you just a tiny fraction of the power.

What makes attending offline seminars so powerful is not just the content presented and that you can learn from. What makes it way more powerful is the human interaction… the breaks, the time before the event starts every day and after the event finishes for the day are those that are most powerful.

In fact… when I just recently attended the World Internet Mega Summit last May in Singapore, the most beneficial time spend for me personally was the time in the hallway. Yes, that’s right… that’s the place connections have been made, business cards exchanges and friendships mended.

Talking of business cards exchanged… let’s get something straight before it gets misunderstood. Don’t ever attend an offline seminar and tackle everybody that gets to close you to force your business card on them. That’s a big no-no!

Wait until your are asked for it… that way you can make sure it doesn’t end up in the next rubbish / trash bin.

Also… another factor makes attending offline seminars super powerful. Are you aware of the power of doing JV’s? Now let me tell you from experience, it’s a lot easier to say NO to a JV offer from somebody that just sends you an email and you have never heard of, then from somebody that you have met in person.

Imagine that person that you want to JV with receives from you an email with a picture attached that shows you two shaking hands at an offline seminar! Can you see that this will have a much bigger impact?

Doing joint ventures has been the most important aspect in my online business ever since I discovered their awesome power.

Looking back, I can tell you with confidence that JV’s are responsible for every single one of my best pay days ever!

BTW… If you are not doing JV’s yet or if you can’t seem to get those big JV partners on board that you hope to work with, I recommend to give Reed Floren’s JV Bootcamp a VERY serious consideration!

Back to the topic of offline seminars…

If you missed the chance to personally attend the World Internet Main Event, or even if you do attend it and have time from October 5th to 7th, SERIOUSLY consider attending the Big Seminar in Atlanta, Georgia / USA.

The host, Armand Morin is having this year his 10th event and I can highly recommend that event as well.

In closing… whatever you do, make a firm commitment to attend at least one offline seminar every single year! Your online business will be boosted so much faster then if you would skip on this. This year I have personally attended so far 5 offline seminars (Melbourne & Sydney, Australia as well as in Singapore) with at least one more to go.
