The same applies to the Internet marketing industry even though there are unsavory people out there who’d have you believe it’s a “Walk in the Park” and requires no more than the belief that you can just do it.

And I’ll have to admit, it is a walk in the park compared to what you have to put up with in the working world punching a clock being a subordinate to someone who does not have your interests in mind, but there are still rules you have to follow and pitfalls you must avoid to actually make Internet marketing work for you.

Most people will not make a dime online and yet there are others who will make more in one month than most people make in a whole year. Why is that?

My answer begins with the age-old chicken or egg question, “What comes first the chicken or the egg”? Personally I vote for, well never mind, each argument you or I make comes back to the same old conclusion – I have no clue and I don’t think many of us do either.

But one thing I do have a clue about and know for sure is that to make money online you must first have Passion for the company, products and/or service of any Internet business from which you expect to make money.

Personally, I love programming and working on the computer… I started 26 years ago at age 12. Do do something that long you have to love it. And that’s why I started out my online business by selling software products I created until I moved on to create software that runs in membership sites.

Passion in this sense simply means that you’ve researched and like the company and products or services. It is then that you translate that like (or Passion) into the education, excitement and work that usually accompany Passion.

I will have to say that many online entrepreneurs are so good at what they do that they ignore passion because they can sell anything. But I’m concerned about those of you who are not so knowledgeable at working an online business successfully.

Now, I’m not trying to make anyone believe that Passion is the only thing necessary. Because to be successful you must also have a good website, good marketing, widespread advertising, company support, effective keywords, and etc. Those things are often learned from the company you join – but sidestep Passion and you reduce your chances for success dramatically.

It therefore follows that, if you have no Passion for the company and the products and services provided by that company, again, you won’t attempt to do the work you are being taught.

Internet marketing work is typically not all that difficult or time consuming but it does take motivation caused by Passion to get you off and running with a sustained effort so that you won’t stumble.

You have a great resource in the Internet search engines to search about the Internet Marketing industry for business opportunities, USE IT!

Your research should uncover a company that you like and have confidence in. It should be solid, founded on great principles, and easy to understand with great products and services that are sell-able for which you can have Passion. If you don’t find it move on, you can find the right opportunity containing the attributes identified above.

Comments like, well, that one sounds good and the compensation plan is excellent so I guess I’ll start that business – does not sound like a decision based on anything near Passion. And remember when you hear that an Internet “guru” does that, don’t be tempted, because as I said earlier they are experienced and can sell just about anything, without being Passionate about the company products and services.

Note: By the way it’s your goal to get to the point where you can sell about anything online. That end skill and goal is a worthy one indeed.

Remember, there are other steps you must make before you step into Internet Marketing but if you don’t first find the right company products and services to be passionate about, all of those other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead of bringing you great success.

Not being Passionate about a company and products and services that has market proof that it will sell is a pitfall you simply must avoid.

Meeting with Craig Beckta… the brain behind Secret Cash Blueprint 2.0

After all, up-selling is a technique employed by leading e-commerce sites to boost their sales and though you may be some light years away from them, this could be used by you effectively too. And though this is a technique, there is not a lot different from up-selling and selling by themselves!

There are many ways you could up-sell a product, but before we get into knowing the easiest method, know that an up-sell is a product you wish to sell immediately after he has bought the first one. Needless to say, the second product or the product to be up-sold has to be related to the first product bought by the customer.

To the point – The easiest method to up-sell is to work on the ‘checkout’ page!

What you can do with the Checkout Page?

I’m not asking you to redesign the entire webpage. Follow this process to uncover the easiest method to up-sell.

First, identify your webpage which you want to include the upsell. It could be your product page, salesletter page, your newsletter subscription page, your thank you page and so on.

Then just add an option for them to include MORE products before they ‘checkout’.

So if it’s a newsletter subscription page, ask them if they want to include a free trial offer to your other paid product before they click “Register” on your newsletter page.

If your page is a salesletter webpage, give them an option to include another of your product before they click the “Order Now” button.

Here’s another example – if your webpage is a shopping cart, you can always ‘upsell’ your prospects for them to add more quantity of the product that they’re buying.

The list goes on.

Here are some things you would like to watch out for while up-selling:

- The product you up-sell needs to be somewhat related to the product the customer bought. The closer the correlation, the better it is for you because you’ll get more sales.

- Write your up-selling ad as carefully and diligently as you would have designed your sales ad. Just the fact that the customer bought one product from you doesn’t mean he is sure to buy another!

- Up-sell but don’t push – Pushing is bad for any form of selling and the same applies in up-selling too. Inform the customer about your product and leave the choice to him. Also, bear in mind that you’re adding more value to your customer by offering greater solutions to them in your upsell products.

The method to up-sell your product is not as tough as you would have thought it to be. Basically, if you’re not integrating any upsell in your sales funnel, you’re literally losing money.

It’ll cost you more time, effort and money to acquire a new customer compare to selling to an existing customer who already trust you and like your product.

Although the technicalities surrounding the deal make it a slightly tough nut to crack, but I can tell you that it’s worth your time to explore this powerful marketing strategy.

Meeting with Patric Chan… the brain behind 1ClickUpgrade

Still remember how I send the first issue of my email newsletter on July 1st 1996, how I registered Add2it.com in March 2000, how I worked the last day in a full-time job as a hardware & software computer support guy on November 30th 2001, how I registered my business as a sole trader on April 1st 2002, how I moved with my family to Australia in January 2005, how I met the first time Aurelius Tjin (more on him later) in person in March 2006 after an offline seminar and how I registered on October 1st 2008 Add2it.com Marketing Pty Ltd.

Wow… covered 12 years in one paragraph.

A little before that, on October 26th 2007, my business partner Colin Klinkert and I launched our very first joint project… ViralURL.com

The site grew awesome… we even reach an Alexa rank of around 5,000 at one point and have now, less then 2 years later still a traffic rank of 10,682 (at the time of writing this).

The advantage of partnering up with Colin was of course that we could both compliment our strength & weaknesses and share the work load and time needed to setup a mammoth project like ViralURL.com.

But still, with a successful site like that… the amount of “daily grind-work” grew more and more, to the point where it seriously hindered the business growth. There was no time left to improve the sites I had, launch new sites or spend a serious amount on marketing tasks.

On March 27th 2008 I finally hired my first full-time Virtual Assistant, Marie…

It was actually Aurelius Tjin, a good friend and also fellow Internet Marketer, that helped me find Marie. He had already one Virtual Assistant himself and pointed me in the right direction.

After a week of training Marie I could see my work load drop and I was able to work on business growth again. Over the next few month I mainly concentrated on adding many additional cool features to our ViralURL.com site and growing it’s membership base every single day.

Then on March 19th 2009 the next site was launched together with another business partner of mine, Sal Vannutini… RapidFireBlogTraffic.com and just a few days later, on April 1st 2009, Colin and I announced on our ViralURLs.com blog our next joint project… ViralFollowers.com

It was again time to get more help on board and so I hired end of April 2009 my second full-time Virtual Assistant, Julie…

All the first level support was now taken care of most of the time with Marie & Julie working an two shifts, covering together 6 days a week. But second level support was still done by myself only and so was the daily dealing with the payment processors.

Colin & I still had at that point many more project ideas in mind that just waited for the implementation. Also I myself had many improvement ideas for my existing Add2it.com Marketing Pty Ltd business.

To be able to grow faster and move all these projects ahead faster, I hired middle of May 2009 my first full-time programmer, Michael…

This time I didn’t go the same way about finding him as I did with Marie & Julie, but instead posted a job description at GetAFreelancer.com. It wasn’t as smooth of a process then with Marie & Julie, but in the end we worked everything out.

On May 28th 2009 Colin and I launched our next site, a new tool for ViralURL.com members, called ViralPlugin.com and then, end of June 2009, Aurelius Tjin & I launched after less then a weeks work, using each of our unique strengths & overcoming our weaknesses, something to make the live of many other Internet Marketeers “one-man bands” a lot easier… TimeToOutsource.com

And yes, those Virtual Assistants that are are provided through TimeToOutsource.com are in the same office as Marie, Julie & Aurelius his own Virtual Assistant are.

On August 21st 2009 Colin and I then pre-launched our latest and like ViralURL.com, huge project… ViralHosts.com

And finally… on September 1st 2009, the last step of the conversion process from the former “one-man band” was done… Aurelius Tjin became the C.O.O. (Chief of operations) for Add2it.com Marketing Pty Ltd. But I better let Aurelius explain that on his Unstoppable Internet Marketing Blog post.

So, what exactly am I doing… and how?

Here is a quick video which I made for you that shares the first “secret” to my online business strategy with you…

So, with the major part of the daily grind work taken care of, here is what I did next while relaxing here in northern Germany…

With an average Giveaway promotion you can easily get a few hundred new members to your site in just a few sites. Let’s say you get only 100 new members… at 4% that’s $108 in sales in a day or two. Multiply that by 5 sites.

So all in all… if you already have a list of your own, may that be subscribers, affiliates, customers or members that you build over time, then the Marketing Main Event 4 product is really too good to pass on. What Are Web Crawlers?

Well, according to Wikipedia, their definition is:

“A web crawler (also known as a web spider or web robot or – especially in the FOAF community – web scutter) is a program or automated script which browses the World Wide Web in a methodical, automated manner. Other less frequently used names for web crawlers are ants, automatic indexers, bots, and worms.”

This is a process that is also known as spidering. This process is used by the search engines in order to provide the most up-to-date information. This information is then used to make the searches for you and me much faster. For instance, you have a website about how to finish a basement, you got the information, therefore, you want the engines to know about your site… so when someone searches this topic, voila, your site comes up in their search.

Web crawlers are also used for maintenance purposes, such as link validation and checking HTML codes. Another use is for gathering specific information from the Web, such as email address harvesting which is mainly used for spamming purposes.

Why Do You Want Web Crawlers Coming To Your Site?

You want these web crawlers coming to your site to improve your rankings. When Google and MSN use Web crawlers, they are actually analyzing an unlimited amount of Web sites, finding which ones are relevant for the most popular keywords. When you are using a good SEO, you will be showing these Web crawlers that your Website is one to be seen. It will determine whether your site is unique enough to provide information and data for a specific search.

Do All Web Crawlers Work the Same Way?

As you can see, even spiders make their style of web… as do the search engines…

No, Google, Yahoo, MSN, all have their own methods and formula for ranking, and they do not share their formulas with anyone, a highly guarded secret. But I can tell you that they will look at several factors concerning each Web site, checking its importance and overall relevance to a particular topic. They will take the keyword or keywords you are using, and use this to determine whether your page is relevant or not.

You do not need to worry so much about how heavy your keyword saturation is… if you put it in too many times, then they will pick up on that and it will hurt you in the long run. You need to put your keywords in as it pertains to your article and Web site, write for your readers, not for the Web crawlers and search engines.

Back-linking and Why It Is Important

Web crawlers will take a look at how many links there are coming to your site (its popularity), what kind of sites are linked, their quality and popularity, and so forth. Getting back-links to your site builds up your relevance in the eyes of the search engines as you can see in the illustration below.

How Do You Get These All Important Links?

Ask for them! The most popular method of the “experts” is to just ask your readers for links. If you go to a blog and leave a link or comment, just ask them to do the same for you… and guess what… they will! If there is something to gain for a blogger to link to your blog, then you can bet that he or she will do it. First, get to know them, write a blog about them, become a friend with them, then once that relationship is built, you have a friend who will provide you some great back-links.

Let me go through the above points an tell you one by one my thoughts on them…

1. The Home Study Course itself

The home study course itself will fore sure have some golden nuggets in it for me and I am looking forward to go through it and find those nuggets. Just implementing them in my existing business will be worth more then what I paid for the course over the term of 2008 alone.

But I have to admit that the course alone didn’t get me to make the purchase now. Don’t get me wrong, but I believe the course in itself will be worth much more to somebody that doesn’t already have an existing online business like I do. Just one of my sites that I partner on with Colin Klinkert made us so far over US $140,000 in sales… and we launched it just 3 month ago. In case you are wondering, I am referring to ViralURL.com and that’s one of your ways you will benefit, but more on that later one.

So, why is it more worth to somebody that doesn’t already have an existing online business? Simple, besides the golden nuggets in it… it also contains all the basics that I personally don’t need anymore. But this basics are what will be of huge value to those that want to cut down their learning curve immensely. You might not know this… but I started online in 1996, the same year Armand Morin did. But went to tons of trial and error and just found the right way for me in 2000. Then it took me another 2 years to go from a part-time to a full-time online business owner.

Imagine you could cut down the 4-6 years that it took me to 4-6 month or less?

2. The live IME seminar

As I mentioned before, I have seen Armand speak twice before… and both times I learned something new. So any of his seminars that I can attend, I am happy to do so.

But again, this was not a main reason for me to purchase now…

3. The 8 weeks of training videos

What’s so cool about this is that it will answer any open question of anybody that owns the course and this way fill in any possible gaps. Not that I believe that there are many gaps as the course it already 34 CD’s and over 900 pages in size, but in my view it will round it off and make it even better.

4. The Generator software products

I actually owned some of them before and know they are good. A nice bonus… but of course again not the main reason I purchased.

5. The resell rights to the IME videos No longer available, but I added an additional bonus to compensate!

Now, here we are getting closer to the reasons I purchased. Those videos where great content videos that could be easily sold on their own… or, as I plan to… be used as fantastic bonuses to existing products.

6. The PersuationX Live teleseminar No longer available, but I added an additional bonus to compensate!

Wow… I honestly can’t wait for that one! As I mentioned before, I talked with Armand in Singapore about his presentation techniques that earned him over $4,000,000 so far.

If you ever met me in person, you might know that I love to talk with people one on one. But then again, speaking in front of hundreds of people one stage is a complete different pair of shoes. That’s something I had been afraid of for a long time.

Last September, when I attended the World Internet Main Event in San Francisco, I had the opportunity to be on stage for over an hour… well, I have to admit that I was hypnotized.

Anyway… I believe that the experience helped me to some degree to get over my stage fright and I can now imagine to give at some point in the near future presentations myself on stage which is according to John Childers “The Teachers Teacher” the highest paid profession in the world.

And knowing that Armand outsold even John Childers as well as Jay Abraham on stage is for me a very strong indicator that I just have to listen to Armand’s teleseminar on this topic.

7. The BigSeminar ticket rebate No longer available, but I added an additional bonus to compensate!

Another main reason for me… I attended in 2007 a total of 7 seminars, mostly in Australia and as I mentioned one each in Singapore and San Francisco. Why so many you might ask? Simple… besides learning a ton, I made each time invaluable contacts with other attendees and speakers. In Melbourne and Singapore I met e.g. Mark Joyner, even went out with him and Patrick Chan to dinner one night. Those opportunities we don’t get in front of our keyboard, but only in the real world.
